Hola Familia y Amigos,
My new companions! |
Thursday: Was kinda a crazy day. Because of some things that needed to be taken care of at home, my wonderful and amazing companion went home Thursday night. So I helped her pack and such. It was a really sad day, we have been through a lot together, along with some of the amazing latinas in our room too, but she is amazing and God definitely has something great in store for her. I had a lot of meetings with president and because there isn´t another gringo sister in my district or in my transfer, I am a solo sister. Yep, so that means that my companions, are compañeros, or Elders.! It´s a pretty rare thing for this to happen, but does sometimes! So I have 2 great Elder companions for the day, and then two hermanas are assigned to me for the morning and night when I´m in my room. It´s a little different, but kinda fun, haha.
Before goodbyes |
Friday: Was kinda a rough day because it was the first one without my hermana companion, and I missed her a lot. There was one point during a combined class at night I just lost it and started crying super hard. I think just because everything had built up so much. But one of the maestras (teachers) talked to me and told me exactly what I needed to hear, and then I was okay. She told me Christ knows everything I´m feeling and to turn to Him, and that´s exactly what I decided to do.
Saturday: I got a blessing in the morning from one of my companions (also my district leader) with my other companion and my teacher. It was a really spiritual experience for me and was exactly what I needed to move on. Now I´m happy and moving forward with faith that I have lots to learn from this! I´m so grateful for the priesthood for and the power and comfort it can bring us. Oh, haha, we also did a practice lesson with the other latino missionaries where we, the gringos, were the investigators and they were the missionaries, and oh man...they were so good, and I have sooo much to learn!!
Sunday: Sundays are always the best. They´re the day we can really focus on the spirit instead of Spanish, and it´s really nice. The other 3-week latino missionaries left on Tuesday so we helped get out the suitcases so they could start packing too. I really have learned so much and come to love the hermanas in my room. They will always have a special place in my heart.
Monday: Super sad day, said goodbyes to lots of missionaries, but I´m so excited for them because they´re going to be incredible! Um, pretty normal day of classes but had some really cool spiritual experiences.
Our District of 8 |
Tuesday: All the latinos left for the mission today so only our district was left: all 8 of us, so there was literally nobody here. Craziest thing ever, though. So we were walking back to get changed for exercise and there´s this group of elders in front of the fountain. As we get closer I start to recognize of of them...Elder Taylor Bingham!!!!!! I went to high school with him and he was about to go home after serving his mission in Viña del Mar. So crazy. His accent was way bad and I kinda hope mine is like that when I get done, but I've got a long ways to go, haha. And you could tell they were so much more spiritually mature and had learned so much, and they were so happy it was kind crazy! Okay...day still got better. That night we walked into the lunchroom for dinner and the Missionary Training Center President and his wife were standing there. We look down at the table and there in front of us is a FULL RIB PLATTER for each of us!!!! with french fries and coleslaw and everything from Applebees...OH, MAN, it was so good and Hermana Brady (the president's wife) made us zucchini and peanut butter cupcakes that were heavenly. Yeah. I think we have the best mission president and mtc ever.
It was a wonderful week and I seriously can´t wait to start teaching in the field!! Love this gospel, and I know God knows and loves each of you so much.
Lots of love and prayers,
Hermana Briggs
